PhoneInSight Terms of Use
This is the same text as the terms of use in the app (Settings → About → View terms). The app asks for acceptance on first run and whenever the version of these terms changes.
These terms are the conditions for using PhoneInSight (the "app"), a Windows app provided by S. Park, an individual developer (the "operator"). You must accept these terms to use the app.
1. What the app does
- The app opens the factory reset screen of an Android phone connected over USB. The reset itself is tapped on the phone by you or your staff.
- The app detects that the reset ran on the phone and that the phone rebooted, and records those facts (time, device details, detected status) as an erasure record.
- Erasure records and certificates state facts the app observed. The app does not guarantee or certify that data on the storage cannot be recovered.
2. Your responsibilities
- Before a reset, confirm that you own the device, are authorized to dispose of it, or have its owner's consent.
- Back up any data that must be kept before the reset. The app cannot restore data on a phone that has been reset.
- Removing account locks (such as FRP), checking that the reset actually ran on the phone, and complying with local law, including privacy law, are your responsibility.
3. Limitation of liability
- The app is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, loss of data or loss of business arising from use of the app.
- This does not limit liability for damage caused by the operator's intent or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including the Korean Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions).
- These terms do not limit consumer rights under applicable law (including the Korean Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce).
4. Credits
- Credits are sold as consumable in-app add-ons in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft processes payments and refunds.
- Each erased device uses 1 credit. A credit is used only when the reset is detected as executed on the phone; canceled or failed erasures are not charged.
- Used credits are not refundable. Refunds and withdrawals for unused credits follow applicable law and Microsoft Store policy.
- Free credits have no cash value.
5. Data
- The app has no server of its own. Erasure records, device details, stock, certificates and settings are stored on this PC, and the app does not send them to the operator or anywhere else.
- Automatic backups are made in your Documents folder by default. If the backup or certificate folder is inside a synced folder such as OneDrive (including when Windows backs up Documents to OneDrive), that service uploads those files (backups contain erasure records and the signing key).
- Credit purchases and balance and usage reports are handled by the Microsoft Store. While the Store cannot be reached, usage reports are kept on this PC and sent the next time it can be reached.
- Managing the data and backups on this PC is your responsibility. See the privacy policy and the privacy note in Settings › About.
6. Third-party components
- The app uses open-source components and Google's Android SDK Platform-Tools (adb). Their licenses and copyright notices are in Settings › About › Open-source notices.
7. Changes · governing law · contact
- When the operator changes these terms, the version changes and the app asks you to accept the new terms the next time it starts. If you do not accept, you cannot use the app.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
